What I've Been Wearing Lately

Hey Dolls,

Earlier I spent some time looking through some of my very first posts and I can't believe how much my make up style has changed.  When I started Magic's in the Make Up, I loved bright colours, I pretty much wore purple eye shadow everyday.  Although I still love brights, I have definitely been favouring brown/bronze/gold tones lately.  This is reflected in the product I've been using daily in the last week.

My absolute favourite cheek combination of the moment is M.A.C's 'Gingerly' and Topshop's highlight powder in 'Sunbeam'.  I've spoken about 'Gingerly' before, it's a perfect everyday cheek colour that can be built up for a more dramatic look at night.  I feel that it has a warming effect on my skin - I'm going to Marbella in August and 'Gingerly' is definitely coming with me, I think it will look lovely with a natural tan!

As 'Gingerly' is a matte blush, I've been using Topshop's 'Sunbeam' as a highlight and it is such a beautiful product.  It's a bright gold highlighting powder that is so buttery to touch.  I was a little intimidated to use 'Sunbeam' as it looks so bright in the pan, however when used lightly on the top of the cheekbones and the bridge of the nose, it creates the most beautiful, sunkissed highlight.  You can see how 'Sunbeam' looks under flash photography in my previous Laura Mercier post.

I had forgotten how beautiful a shade M.A.C's 'Satin Taupe' was - it seems to go with pretty much any shadow I've paired it with.  'Satin Taupe' has such a lovely formulation, it's an extrememly pigmented, soft shadow that has quite a frosty finish, so looks lovely blended over the lid with a darker matte shade blended into the outer corner and crease.  However, in the last week I've been wearing it on its own, blending it out just past my crease with some 'Smoulder' khol pencil smudged into the upper and lower lashline - it's quite a soft colour for day time however I blended it out over a black base to wear out to dinner which gave a dramatic but easy effect.

I bought L'oreal Caresse Lipstick in 103 'Sweet Berry' initially because I thought it looked a little like NARS 'Dolce Vita'.  However, when I got it home though they are in the same colour family, 'Sweet Berry' is a little darker and has a little more pink in than 'Dolce Vita'. As with all the Caresse lipsticks, 'Sweet Berry' has a lovely glossy finish - it isn't as pigmented as some of the other shades though it can be built up.  'Sweet Berry' is exactly the type of everyday lipstick I love - it has slight brown tones running through that have quickly become one of my favourite shade ranges (you can read about some of my other favourites here).  However, I still find that after a few hours of wear, the L'oreal Caresse lipsticks leave my lips feeling a little dry.

Have you found your make up style has changed since starting blogging?

Lots of Love
Nicola
