FOTD with Sleek Circus

Ola...

I bought the Sleek Circus palette yesterday and it is definitely my favorite one yet. The colours are all amazing brights - I had been considering placing an order with Sugarpill as I love their amazing pink, purple and yellow shadows but have put this in hold until I have played with Circus more. Here's what I did today...

Totally didn't notice the yellow on my nose ha!

FACE

Estee Lauder Double Wear
MAC MSF Natural
NARS Laguna
Illamasqua Bronzing Duo
MAC Hang Loose

EYES

UDPP
Illamasqua Promise Cream Blush
Sleek Circus Pallette - Fuchsia, Dark Purple, Yellow, Black
MAC Pink Opal Pigment
MAC Smoulder Pencil
Rimmel Sexy Curves

LIPS

OCC Lip Tar in Demure
Sleek Pout Polish is Raspberry Souffle

I love these colours! Honestly they are so pigmented and easy to blend despite many of them being matte shades - five pounds well spent!

MAC Hang Loose

Hey Dolls :)

After swearing I wasn't going to purchase anything from In The Groove I was casually killing time in town and 'happened' to wander into MAC. The one thing that really jumped out at me was Hang Loose...and so I gave in...

I'm in love with purples/lilacs so why not add a blush? Hang Loose is a really pretty, cool toned blush. It's really subtle, in the photo below I put on a tad too much so you could see the proper colour when mixed together...

Excuse the face I've been at work all day!

As you can see the lilac side has a silvery shimmer to it which honestly is a lot more subtle when not packed on as I have here. After playing about with the colours it definitely looks nicest when mixed together...I'll do a proper FOTD soon to show how lovely it is at creating pretty, glowy cheeks.

I ♥ Blush!

A bit of a nail fail - GOSH Holographic

Hey Dolls :)

Quite soon one of my amazing friends Cheryl is going to be doing some nail art guest spots on magicsinthemakeup - she was one of the British Nail Art Champions so I'm quite excited to see some of her tutorials. You see, I am terrible at nails, I get really agitated and don't have a steady hand and pretty much make a big mess!

My most recent failure is with Gosh Holographic. I have drooled over photos I have seen on other blogs, it's like a disco ball for your nails. However, I just can't get it to work...

In all fairness I didn't even clean around the nails up as I took it straight off. The flash makes it look a lot better than it actually is - in real life it looks patchy and it shows ridges in my nail despite my buffing beforehand.

I've been trying to make this work all week, I've used a base coat, no base coat, a topcoat, no topcoat, 2 layers of the polish, 3 layers of the polish. It's official, for me this is a tad too much work for me.

Goodbye to my disco ball nails.

Lots of Love

P.S I have the utmost respect for you nail bloggers, how do you avoid 'the claw'? All my nail shots looked a bit evil!

OOTN

Hey Dolls :)

One of close friends got married yesterday, I was a little misty eyed! I always find it quite stressful trying to find a nice wedding outfit, here's what I wore...

Dress: Bravissimo
Pashmina: Monsoon
Shoes: Primark (!)
Fascinator: Accessorize

I'm sure you can tell this was taken near the end of the night ha, my hair well and truly collapsed boo!

I LOVE this bag, it's from M&S and carries a surprisingly large amount!

And a closer look at the fascinator - I really struggled trying to find a nice fascinator, they were all really big height wise but I really like this comb type.

It was such a lovely day complete with bagpipes, haggis and some yummy melon sparkly wine. Kirsty looked absolutely beautiful...

Now I need to go to work feeling a tad delicate boo!

A little bit about me...

Hey Dolls :)

One of my favorite things is finding a new blog and reading it from beginning to end. What I've noticed lately is that many of my favorite bloggers have written a post telling everyone about themselves and I realised I've never done that. I love blogs that are personal, where you feel like you know the blogger and so I thought I'd compose a little spiel about me! Also, I often casually drop things into my posts without explaining them properly eg people's/place names so hopefully this will help!

My name's Nicola though barely anyone calls me that in my real life, it's normally Nic or Carr, this is me...

I study english literature at Glasgow University and have absoloutely no idea what I want to do when I grow up. I have a very lovely but very silly boyfriend called Nicholas who at times is probably the most irritating boy I have met in my life. However I love him very much as he accepts my irrational love for Twilight and my ever expanding make up collection...

The other loves in my life are my beautiful friends. We like cocktails, food, sunny park days, talking about boys, big hair, kareoke, fatbooth, Edward Cullen, The Horseshoe and Topshop.

I like Disney, pink cheeks, happy faces and Nintendo. I dislike bad manners and foundation lines.

My hair is mostly fake. As is my tan.
I cry lots.
I laugh lots.
I like listening to soulful ladies such as Candi Staton, Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin.

I love all my beautiful make up geeks

If you haven't already come and say hello!
If you have twitter lets have a chat here

Lots of Love

June Favorites

Hey Dolls :)

Here are my favorites for the month of June!

1. Stila Kitten

As an eyeshadow lover lately I just can't be bothered. I don't know if it's a phase or if it's just the heat I just can't be bothered faffing about with lots of shadows. However, I still hate going out bare eyed and have turned to my favorite neutral shadow in my collection - Stila's Kitten. It looks quite similar to MAC All That Glitters but Kitten is a much softer shadow and combined with a smudge of black pencil on the upper and lower lash line creates a rather delish everyday eye.

2. Fresh Supernova Mascara

My lovely friend brought this back for me from her holiday - I think she may have been a tad fed up with my constant moaning. I love this mascara - it adds both length and volume minus crispiness. Perfect.

3. YSL Rouge Volupte 7 Lingerie Pink

This is my second rouge volupte, I really do love these lipsticks. They may not be the most long lasting of formulas but they make me feel a bit special

4. Sudocrem

One of my oldest friends is getting married on Sunday and so for the last week my beauty regime has centred around looking ok for the wedding photos. As you saw a couple of posts ago I'm having serious break out issues however I have been saved by Sudocrem. I think I may stop buying expensive spot creams as I have found nothing as effective at battling spots in such a short time. It can be a tad drying but as long as I moisturise it's never been too much of a problem.

5. Benefit One Hot Minute

This is a beautiful rose gold bronzing powder that leaves the skin with the most delightful glow. It's a little messy to use (definitely do not use whilst standing on a cream carpet - learned the hard way). It also smells yummy.

6. Scottish Fine Soaps Boheme Body Lustre

I do love Scottish Fine Soaps - I had previously tried products from their Au Lait and Honey B ranges however this is the first time I had tried anything from the Boheme Line. This body lustre is beautiful - it contains tiny sparkly particles which looks amazing with a tan. This again was bought with the wedding in mind however I haven't been able to stop myself from using it. The scent is described as a blend of musks, florals and amber, it's really quite unusual. It also leaves skin feeling so lovely and moisturised. Plus the packaging is amazing! I want to try the Pearl Essence and the Dusting powder next. You can see the whole range here

Hope you all had a good month!
